Dramatically reduce noise and interference and hear speech more clearly!

The DESKTOP MKII speaker is a base station speaker that features our sophisticated DSP noise cancellation technology. The technology identifies speech signals and removes unwanted background noise and interference while preserving speech clarity, making it ideal for challenging listening environments. The easy-to-use controls allow real-time adjustment of both volume and filter levels to match your specific operating conditions.

Built for versatility, this speaker seamlessly integrates with virtually any radio setup through multiple connection options. The speaker-level inputs (4mm terminals) handle traditional 4 to 8 ohm radio outputs, while the 3.5mm line-level input socket is perfect for modern SDR radios and low-level audio signals. The convenient side-mounted headphone jack allows for private listening without sacrificing audio quality.

Testimonials

"Thank You Graham for your reply. I have in fact bought the DESKTOP model since I spoke to you from Martyn Lynch. It arrived today and I set it up to try it out. I am plagued by noise at my qth, so much so that I have seriously considered closing down the station. I cannot praise your speaker enough. It seems rather strange listening to speech in a way I have never heard it before. On top band we have a net on a Sunday morning. To be able to join in I have to go mobile to a spot away from the village. With winter on its way, I am going to enjoy the interference free contacts without having to go out. At 86yrs this is quite something. Again, thank you for making radio a pleasure again". Regards Peter 2E0DYM.

“I have sometimes been a little sceptical about DSP noise cancellation, but this really does reduce noise very effectively without any annoying and distracting DSP artefacts...”
RadCom Jan ‘14 review

Geoff Blore:
“Transformed the output sound of my TS-930S providing as clear audio to match current rigs.”

Mr. B Hiley:
“The DESKTOP speaker is great, audio is crisp and clear, brilliant!”

“I just wanted to thank you for your amazing Desktop (10W) DSP Speaker. I bought it from you @ the Kempton Park Rally - I tried it for the 1st time this Sunday on a noisy 40m band and was gobsmacked! Your unit made a fine job eliminating the crud picked up by the radio.  I now consider your noise eliminating speaker an essential bit of kit in my ham shack! Thank you very very much.” John G1WVN.

FAQs

What radio equipment is it compatible with?

The DESKTOP MKII is fully compatible with amateur radio transceivers, shortwave listening, CB, professional and marine radio, as well as SDR receivers like Elecraft, FlexRadio via line inputs and front headphone jack.

How much noise cancelling can I expect?

The DESKTOP MKII offers 8 levels of DSP noise cancelling, providing 9–40 dB of background noise reduction, adjustable to your environment.

What is the power output of this speaker?

It delivers up to 10 W peak power, driven by a 4″ bass driver and a 1″ tweeter for high-quality sound.

Can I use it with headphones?

Yes—there’s a front 3.5 mm jack for mono or stereo headphones (8–64 Ω impedance). A mono to stereo adapter plug (ADP-S001) may be needed for stereo listening.

What are the input options?

The input options are:

  • Stereo 3.5 mm line-in socket via rear (160 mV–1.6 V p‑p)
  • Mono speaker-level via banana posts on rear (350 mV–3.5 V p‑p, max 1.5 W)

What are the physical dimensions & weight?

The speaker measures 200(H) × 150(D) × 160(W) and weighs 1.90 kg.

What power supply do I need?

The DESKTOP MKII speaker is supplied with a 2.1mm fused DC power lead with bare ends. A 12–18 V DC (centre-positive) power supply is available separately - PSU12-2A-WW.

Is there a bypass mode?

There isn’t a power off bypass mode, but with the filter off (press the filter control knob to get the red LED), you get amplified plain audio without DSP noise cancelling. Press the DSP filter knob enable the filter again (green LED).

How do I connect and set up the DESKTOP MKII speaker with my radio equipment?

Connect the supplied fused DC power lead to a 12V DC power supply or use one of our PSU12-2A-WW mains plug-in 12V DC switch mode power supplies. Then connect the audio lead to the red and black banana plugs on the rear of the speaker and the other end to the 3.5mm extension speaker output on your radio. Switch the radio and speaker power on, and you are good to go. If you want to connect to the headphone socket of your radio or the line out of an SDR radio or receiver, you will need a 3.5mm stereo plug lead like our ALD-007 to connect from your radio to the “Line In” socket on the rear of the speaker.
